About us

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Mortality Study, 1988-2008 is being undertaken at the Onemda VicHealth Koori Health Unit, Centre for Health in Society, School of Population Health, the University of Melbourne.

Onemda is committed to quality research and teaching that is underpinned by principles of Indigenous community development that will lead to long-term improvements in Aboriginal health. Onemda has an academic program based on Indigenous values and principles, but which also respects the contribution and cultural background of all those that work with the Unit. Onemda collaborates with a number of departments in the University of Melbourne, and advocates for community-driven research both within and outside the university.

Onemda and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO)will collaborate on this study with the guidance of a team of investigators from the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
